| Time: | 6:00 PM |

| Details: | Nashville’s Suicide Anonymous group (SA) is a Twelve Step program for survivors of suicide attempts or suicidal ideation. SA seeks to emphasize the term "survivor" in hopes of harnessing the associated images of hope, strength, and perseverance, in contrast to the more common label of "attempter" and the negative impressions it conveys. There are no dues or fees. Meetings are restricted to survivors of suicide attempts. The group offers a support system for survivors and allows members an opportunity to share the tools and secrets they use to overcome their depression and inner struggles with suicide. SA also hopes to make a distinction between the suicide attempt and the person involved and cast off the societal stigma that too often plagues the survivor. Meetings will convene promptly at 6 PM on alternating Thursdays; the dates for the next meetings are as follows:
To get involved with the group or for more information, please call (615) 297-1077 or e-mail tspn@tspn.org. |

| Details: | NAMI TN and TN STEP would like to extend this special invitation to you as part of our mission to promote competent cultural care for diverse communities in Tennessee. Our purpose of the day is to enhance services for culturally and linguistically diverse populations. Assessing attitudes, practices, policies and procedures of administrators and service providers is a necessary, effective and systematic way to plan for culturally competence care within an organization. Determining the needs, preferences and satisfaction of family members/consumers is an essential aspect of this process. Our goal is to provide information and strategies that will assist families in the journey to exercise leadership through active involvement in decision making processes related to members with special needs and to ensure Tennessee is a State that values cultural policies, practices and procedures. Each of us have the ability to influence systems and effect positive change in our community and this event has been designed to ensure resources to sustain and enhance advocacy with the extensive network of private and public entities. Broaden the conversation and take your seat at the table. Together we can bring unity to our community of mental illness. The networking reception and a conversation on overcoming the challenges in creating culturally competent organizations will be held on February 24, 2012 from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM. The summit will be held on February 25, 2012 beginning at 8:00 AM at Meharry Medical College – S.S. Kresge Learning Resources Center – 1005 Dr. D.B. Todd, Jr. Blvd – Nashville, TN 37208.
